Quince

Quince
in a glass vase

oil on canvas
12 x 16

Missing now found

This painting with a decorative gold frame is missing from
Amy's Bakery
113 High Street,
Brattleboro, Vermont

As an artist, I give so much of myself in my work, and having this painting stolen just makes it very hard to keep going and now here I’ve even lost the opportunity to show this painting.

Found in a cafe in So. Hadley MA. Anybody have any information, I'd love to hear how it turned up there.

So sorry to hear about the theft. When something of mine disappears, I use all of my creative energy inventing a future for it that will please me. So I have already pictured your painting in the room of a neglected elderly woman in a adequate (but not very stimulating) nursing home. Looking at the painting brings her so much pleasure and will make her remaining years not only tolerable, but joyful. She smiles every time she looks at it. You have unwittingly changed someone's life!

Thank you for your kind thoughts. This painting seems to have gained some unusual powers, and seems now to be even more valuable after haven been stolen. I am truly saddened not to be able to have it in the show.

This beautiful scarlet "Quince"
in her vase of sparkling glass,
must be crying.
Is that a tear I see shining on
a drooping leaf?
She knows the love that framed
her, and the inspired thoughts
that made her real.
How sad to be so far away from
the inspired hand that gave
her life.
